Delivering high-quality sporting facilities.
The Lalor Gardens Primary School Gymnasium Project delivers high quality indoor sporting facilities for the school and broader community, addressing the missing link for providing holistic education at this developing school.
The stand-alone facility consists of a competition grade Multi-sports Court, Music/Drama performance space, Arts & Craft room, and Kitchen. The new facility is a collection of learning activities with an emphasis on variable noise/ high energy activities, and enables them to co-exist in harmony in the one space.
Adaptable and transitional spaces.
It was critical that the design focused on adaptable space. Through careful consideration of the transition and interconnection between spaces, the facility has been designed to adapt to varying learning requirements. A physical education lesson can transition from a study session in the music/drama space, to activities in the sport court, to nutritional education in the kitchen. Accordingly, three separate classes can utilise these same spaces, at the same time, without interruption.
Promoting interconnection.
Lalor Gardens Primary School Gymnasium is a beacon for the school and community. The coloured banding on the southern façade is striking, acting as a visual connection beyond the site, and integrating with the existing aesthetic of the school. Combined with the building location and interconnection of internal spaces, the project integrates and unifies the school site and modern curriculum needs of Lalor Gardens Primary School.
